Angela Rayner's civil servants in Housing, Communities & Local Government Department launch 'work to rule' protest after being told they cannot work from home

It isn't only UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer who's in trouble because he is inept at his job, so is his Deputy, Angela Rayner. While Starmer can't control his backbench MPs, Rayner is being told what to do by the staff in her Department.

Put simply, they want to decide when to come to work and when not. And they are ready to push all the way, short of a strike.

This Department has oversight, among other vital areas of the nation's social infrastructure of regulating social housing which houses the majority of the most vulnerable households.

Concerns about a revolving door of appointments to roles on boards, chief executive and senior positions in housing associations, all with lucrative salaries and benefits, add to the troubling situation in this part of the civil service.

With a 2025 budget estimate of £50bn (that's British People's money), and such signficant responsibilities, a firm and decisive leader is required.

Clearly, that is not Angela Rayner.
