The story of life transitioning to death is painted vividly by the hand of our Creator in Autumn’s leaves. These leaf-portals through which sunlight enters plants and trees, combining with water and nutrients drawn up from the earth to enable life and growth; the glorious colours they take on before they fall to the ground and die, are at once dazzling, heart-warming, inspirational and poignant.

Yet, as we know, Autumn’s death and decay are followed by Winter and, so surely we also know that Spring, with its promise of New Life, is waiting, ready to greet us. Our lives are pictured in this process of Nature.
We don’t worship Nature, our beautiful world or any of its wonders. But we do have opportunity to look beyond, to recognise the Mind, Heart and Person who gave it all to us to steward and enjoy.
And, more important than all else, to discover his purpose for us, here in the world of seasons and the future yet to come.
Read Genesis 1: “And God saw that it was all very good.”
